I may have been rushing it a bit.

I'm back at work. And I'm a little exhausted. Even though I rested quite a bit yesterday, I'm feeling some major bone-deep weariness. Partly due to all the personal stuff I've been going through, partly because the company/organization I work for has decided to completely change it's modus operandi. And not tell their employees about it, except in tones of 'Why didn't you know this already? Aren't you mind-readers?' and 'Oh, you thought we were here to help people? Ahahaha, no. We trawl the internets for companies' information now.' Yeah.

Can I please have a do-over? I'd like it to begin last June, I think. June 6th. Yeah, that would be a great date to try this all over again.

In other news, I watched two movies yesterday: Babylon AD and Jonah Hex. Spoilers, ahoy!

Well. I liked the premise of Babylon AD. I'm a sucker for semi-post-apocalyptic films and really, it's not like I was expecting great things from it. (Vin Diesel is generally enough for me) BUT!

1. There is no killing of Michelle Yeoh! EVER! Especially, no killing of Michelle Yeoh in a stupid, stupid way that does not advance the plot and then NEVER MENTIONS HER AGAIN AFTER SHE PLAYED A CRUCIAL ROLE. Do. NOT. DO IT.

2. WTF with the ending? This was seriously sent through the choppiest of editing. I mean, WHAT? Wow.

Now, Jonah Hex.

Dear Movie people,

You have a cast of not-untalented actors. (re: Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, Michael Fassbender, Aidan Quinn, Gob from Arrested Development and Wes Bentley. Actually, in writing this list: WHERE THE HECK ARE THE WOMEN? Megan Fox kind of counts.)

Why did you feed them the scenery? I mean, really.

At least John Malkovich and Michael Fassbender looked like they were having fun. Fassy does crazy-Irish wonderfully well.

Anyway. The premise and concepts behind the film are actually quite fun. I love a gothic western, with hints of animation and fun imagery. But, why so much suck? You've got the ingredients! Why can't you make it work?

Sigh.

Movie industry, if you wish for me to continue to watch films, you really must improve.

Sincerely,
seren

PS. More Michael Fassbender is never a bad thing. Just FYI.

Why do I even bother watching movies anymore?

Pride and Prejudice tonight. Maybe. If I don't collapse the second I walk through the door.

So TIRED.

Oh, Fassbender. Jonah Hex could've been so good, but it just wasn't. I do love the fact that Brolin basically campaigned for Michael to be in this movie because he's such a 'stan for the guy, but still, the movie was terrible.

I had issues with Jonah Hex that were long and complicated and had nothing to do with the actual movie. That being said! I'm sorry it was terrible?

Also, I'm sorry about your work being crap! I walked in the door this morning, looked at my desk, and wanted to turn around and walk back out. Just. UGH.

Yeah, Jonah Hex was pretty disappointing! I wanted to like it, but really, I just ended up wishing for more Michael (and Megan) and less nonsense. It's so annoying when movies have a great cast and then squander it!

Also, I agree with everything [livejournal.com profile] robanybody said about Michael's movies. :D

I have yet to see Jonah Hex, and now I'm mildly depressed. I was looking forward to all the gothic westerny and actors I enjoy. Ah well.. I'll probably still watch it anyway lol!

And oh my Babylon A.D. There were really some awesome scenes, and the subject matter really had promise. Plus like you said, Vin with weaponry and an attitude is always fun (has just posted Pitch Black ficness on ffn cuz she really does enjoy the Big Bad). So dear lord.. what the heck happened? It was like a good portion of the ending turned into a trainwreck. Granted.. I think it's the Directors Cut that I really loathed, but still.. let's just kill her off for the hell of it and leave the killer for hire with god only knows how many enemies as the foster father of the psychic twins. That does not sound like it'll go smooth lol.
