So much agreement. There is a book called The Bronze Horseman that I did not like as a whole, but one thing it did really well was have a period about 2/3 of the way through the novel where the two main characters are just spending time together, without the threat of death or family disapproval over their heads, and the fact that they COULD was a really solid mark in their favor.
