moments flare out with love, love, love
So, I'm rather sad about Patrick Swayze and Keith Floyd. Both rather iconic men that I've always enjoyed watching in their respective fields.
I'm tempted to try to make homemade ravioli while I watch Point Break this evening.
I'm also kind of needing a little kick in the pants regarding writing.
So, I'm asking for prompts! McCoy/Chapel related prompts. Give me a word, a phrase, a situation and I'll write 100 words for it in the comments.
Hit me!

Fantasies and truth
***
McCoy walked into the Enterprise's rec room and looked around. He didn't come here all that often, preferring his own room or his office to unwind, but it had been a long day and he kind of craved the sound of people enjoying themselves. He spotted a familiar blonde head settled in a large armchair in the corner and made his way over to her.
"Chapel," he said as he sat in the armchair next to hers.
Christine looked up with a smile and said, "Doctor."
She looked absurdly comfortable in the chair. She was wearing civilian clothes, her bare feet tucked up underneath her and she was reading what looked like a well-handled PADD.
"What are you reading?" he asked tapping his own PADD and finding the medical journal he'd been meaning to read.
"It's an old Earth novel, well, trilogy really, The Lord of the Rings," she said.
"Wait, isn't that for kids?" he asked with a frown.
She rolled her eyes. "No. It's for everyone." She went back to it.
"But, it's got goblins and fairies in it," he said.
"Elves," she said.
"Whatever," he said. "It's a fantasy."
"Your point being?" she asked in that arch tone that generally signaled she was either highly amused or highly aggravated.
"I just never saw the point in all those," he said.
"What? Not even as a child?" she asked. "You must have played pretend at some point?"
"Well, some," he said. "But, then I grew up. The real world called and all that."
Chapel looked at him with an emotion in her eyes that he couldn't quite place. "Just because it's a fantasy doesn't mean it's not worth considering. These novels are actually allegorical for the time period they were written in. The author was able to recount history and real emotion while telling an engrossing story. It's actually incredibly real."
McCoy frowned.
"Surely, you still have fantasies?" she asked.
He looked down at the PADD and tried to rid his mind of the images her question created. Christine, tucked under his arm as they read together in his room. Her hair trailing down her bare back as he kissed his way down her spine. Her hands slowly massaging his temples as they lay in his bed.
"Everyone does," he said at last. "I just don't count on any of 'em coming true anytime soon."
"But, that's the thing about fantasies," she said. "There's always a little hint of the truth in them and that's what you have to chase after."
She smiled at him again and he was suddenly struck by the urge to read more fiction.
