Dana Scully, McCoy/Chapel, and Yuletide

Here is my usual mish-mash o'stuff for the day.

1. Reasons Why Dana Katherine Scully is a BAMF.

  1. She can defend herself on so many levels: intellectually, spiritually, physically, you name it. Even her crises of faith are done with such grace and strength.

  2. She respects the journey. She will happily disagree with Mulder until the cows fall out of the sky and then even after they do that (The Rain King), but she will not balk at following a trail to see where it leads.

  3. Smart is sexy, people.

  4. She will protect her loved ones to her last breath.

  5. Not only can she recite passages from Moby Dick, but she can tell you that you're looking at a North American P-51 Mustang just by looking at a grainy UNDERWATER image.

  6. Did I mention the fact that smart is sexy?

2. So, I told myself that no way was I going to do another Star Trek Big Bang. It's stressful and time-consuming and (I kind of cringe saying this) not that many people read it. *cringes* That being said, I got the brilliant idea of turning my favorite Agatha Christie novel, The Man in the Brown Suit, into a McCoy/Chapel themed story set in the Star Trek universe. I kind of really want to do this. *facepalm*

3. I reached 1,295 words for my Yuletide story! On that note, which authors do you all admire for their prose?

ETA: 4. I have half written a Sherlock (BBC) fic in which Lestrade and Molly find common ground and go for coffee and then, ahem, more. Am I insane? I'm blaming Rupert Graves being such a silver fox.

I love writing and I get a kick out of it, I really do. But yes, I really wish I'd gotten a few more reviews. Especially for something that I spent (and my lovely betas!) a lot of time and care on.

I'm not disheartened and I'm certainly not going to stop writing or anything, it can just be very frustrating. A short review goes a very, very long way.

That being said, I love our little McCoy/Chapel corner of the 'net and wouldn't change it for anything.

Did I tell you how much I adore Christie? Seriously, I'm a HUGE fan. I could so help you with that!

Dude! No encouraging me! :D
