Dogs and Goddesses

When I first read Dogs and Goddesses by Jennifer Crusie, Anne Stuart and Lani Diane Rich, I immediately thought: Picspam Time! Pretty much so I could spam you all with pictures of pretty people and dogs. That being said, this is a very cute book. While there are some sections that are better than others, it's ideal for that rainy day when you want to read about dogs. That can talk. :D

Dogs and Goddesses

Abby has just arrived in Summerville, Ohio, with her placid Newfoundland, Bowser. She’s reluctantly inherited her grandmother’s coffee shop, but it’s not long before she’s brewing up trouble in the form of magical baked goods and steaming up her life with an exasperating college professor.

And then there’s Daisy, a web code writer, and her hyperactive Jack Russell, Bailey. Her tightly-wound world spins out of control when she discovers the chaos within and meets a mysterious dog trainer whose teaching style is definitely hands-on.

Finally there’s Shar, professor of ancient history at Summerville College, who wakes up one morning to find her neurotic dachshund, Wolfie, snarling at an implacable god sitting at her kitchen table, the first thing in her life she hasn’t been able to footnote.

What on earth is going on in this unearthly little town? It’s up to Abby, Daisy, and Shar to find out before an ancient goddess takes over Southern Ohio, and they all end up in the apocalyptic doghouse…

Christopher (Bradley Cooper - remember when he played Will Tippin?): "I hear voices; you hear dogs. We’ll work it out. Maybe get a discount on therapy."



Daisy (Kaley Cuoco): “It’s Noah, From class. He’s completely wrong for me, but he gave me this piggyback ride and I almost had...fun. It’s been so long since I had fun.”



Bailey: "Daisy happy!"



Noah (Eddie Cahill): “Half the fun in life is doing things that are childish and embarrassing.”



Kammani (Catherine Zeta-Jones): "I hate this world."



Mina (Alia Shawkat): “I will not fail you, O Goddess, for I am your handmaiden, Death.”

LOVE this cast list! I agree that the book isn't THE BESTEST THING EVER, but it is really cute and fun. And I want a Wolfie of my own! :)

Not my favourite Crusie, for much the same reasons as yours, but yummy people. After seeing Jason Momoa's shoot for Italian Vogue though, he's my Sam-ulat. He wears a bowler hat in a way that I can only describe as insouciantly.
