Ouch and Umm? What the heck was that?

So, yesterday I woke up at the usual time, had a cup of tea and slice of toast, then sat down watched two minutes of Murder She Wrote (with a very young Linda Hamilton!), then opened my laptop and COULD NOT READ ANYTHING due to this weird crescent shaped wavy line that got bigger and bigger across my field of vision in my right eye. I couldn't read any text at all.

I took off my glasses, my head started to hurt and I closed my eyes. It got better. I got up to make some whipped cream and it started all over again, this time in my left eye. I made what I needed to make, then sat down in a dark room, with my eyes closed and my glasses off. It eventually went away, but I STILL have a dull ache in my head.

The internet says this was an optical migraine? I've only ever had one migraine before (after watching John Carter in 3D, not pleasant), so this was new and painful and not fun. I'm off to the eye doctor tomorrow to have things checked out vision-wise, simply because glaucoma and cataracts run in the family. My mother also had a macular hole, so I'm being cautious.

So...not a fun day. Although, I made an awesome Key Lime Pie using this recipe. SO good.

How is everyone?

Sounds like a migraine for sure. Occular or classic, I couldn't say. I sometimes get an aura--a warning, in a sense--with my classic migraines that consists of waving, pulsating lines in one part of my visual field. If I take my migraine meds as soon as the aura hits, I can avoid the headache. It's always a good idea to get eye changes checked out but this sounds like a neurological issue, not an eye problem, but I'm neither a neurologist nor an ophthalmologist. If this turns out to be a recurring problem, you should see your physician who can refer you to a neurologist if need be. There is medication for migraines. People have triggers, usually more than one.

I get those. They hurt like hell, and that's not actually enough of a descriptor. Here's to hoping you never have another one!

Mmm, key lime pie! :D

And, yeah, that definitely sounds like a migraine. Not only are they painful, but they're scary as hell when you start seeing things. I hope everything goes well at the eye doctor!

That's how my migraines go - I see a wavy disc, but yeah. And then the need to sit in the dark, and then really quite an intense amount of pain, and then it goes away. Bleh. They're a misery, but fortunately I don't get them so often. I hope you're feeling better.

!!!!!!!!

Eye stuff is SUPER scary, so I thumbs up heading to the doctor. Hopefully it's stress-related (you are super stressed, don't even lie) and will theoretically get better without much intervention.

*sends hugs and lots of love in your direction*

:( Sounds like a migraine. I get them very occasionally and usually spend a half hour trying to figure out if my contacts fell out before realizing that it's a migraine.

Hope it gets better and that you don't have to deal with another one.

I get the optical migraines quite frequently. Nothing really to be done with them, but a good idea to have an eye doctor take a look, because other things can mimic the symptoms. My son is now on an aspirin regimen because his turned out to be a minor blood clotting problem.

Ugh, fingers crossed it's a one off! Good luck at the opticians though.

*hugs and sends tea*

Yick yick yick I TOTALLY know that feeling, and they are bizarre as hell. Sorry you got to experience one first hand, though hey - you have now experienced one for if your characters ever do lol
