My Fake TV Show - Take One - The Gardeners
Well, here is one of two fake tv shows I've created. This takes the prompts the lovely
jal80 gave me. I hope you enjoy!
Meet the Gardeners
I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.
~Edna St. Vincent Millay, "Afternoon on a Hill"
David Gardener loves two things in this world to distraction: flowers and women. His gardens at Eden Estates are well-known all over the country and many people flock to see them in the small village of Eden in the south of England.
Also situated in the small village, amongst the gardens, are his three daughters Amaryllis, Elodie and Marigold, who he loves with all his heart, just as he loved each of their mothers.
However, it's a small village and when Mr Gardener employs a a young and handsome photographer to document the work done of his gardens, along with portraits of his family, secrets and desires start to bloom.

Amaryllis "Lily" Gardener (Rachel Weisz) is the history teacher at the local secondary school. She's quiet, kind, patient and has always been content playing the part of the older sister. However, the arrival of the photographer awakens something and she begins to get the urge to loosen up and test the limits of her relationships. After all, her name does mean 'naked lady' and wouldn't it be fun to see how freeing that could be?

Elodie "Ellie" Gardener (Emily Blunt) is the middle child and doesn't she feel it some days. She's flitted from project to project, place to place, job to job, which might be annoying if she wasn't so earnest and glamorous about all of them. The fact is, Elodie is still searching for herself but she’ll be damned if she follows her heart and actually takes up gardening. There are already too many cliches in her life and she’s not following in Daddy’s footsteps, thank you, but no. She does, however, love the feel of soil in her hands and dirt under her fingernails...

Marigold "Mari" Gardener (Karen Gillan) is the youngest of the sisters and when she was six she helped to make her first batch of cookies. Now, she owns, runs and does all the baking at the local pastry shop. There's something wonderfully satisfying about getting your hands dirty and having flour in your hair. She's not looking for anything other than the perfect gateau and the occasional good night in, with or without a warm body in her bed. The new photographer is quite the specimen...

Adam Thornfield (Karl Urban) is the head gardener at the estate. He grew up alongside the Gardener girls and has always been thought of as their older brother. He's got great talent and an amazing vision for the new plots of land that are just about ready to be reshaped and replanted. However, Lily's new found 'freedom' is beginning to worry him and the fact that it worries him is worrying him. They've always just been friends. Right?

Malcolm Collins (Michael Fassbender) was hired by David Gardener to follow the progress and changes to the Eden Estates as well as take portraits of the people involved. Including the Gardener family. He's immediately drawn to the sisters by their friendliness and diverse personalities. He can easily see himself having a laugh with Marigold (in and out of bed, if we're being honest), letting Elodie boss him around, and yet... With Amaryllis, he finds himself wanting something more. Which may not be wise for a man with his background.

Daniel Preston (Joel McHale) is really quite happy being a part-time lawyer, part-time agent. He's the one who found Malcolm and brought him to Mr. Gardener. It’s all about the wordplay and the deal-making. The Gardeners are an interesting bunch and that Elodie is simply stunning and totally his type. So, why can’t he stay away from Marigold? The only thing she really has to offer besides her thick, brilliant hair and legs that go on for miles are her baked goods. And Daniel has absolutely no need for carbs. None. Plus she’s into Malcolm. But, she smells so good...

Patrick Smythe (Matt Smith) may be young, but he's the best accountant and business manager Eden Estates has ever had. He's smart, kind, funny and just shy of gawky. In fact, the only person that brings out his inner klutz is Elodie Gardener. He and Mari have been best mates since primary school and the one time they attempted something more (yes, we mean sex) they laughed so hard their ribs ached for days afterwards. He's not quite sure what to make of the photographer either, but if Mr. Gardener trusts him...
Cue lots of gorgeous landscapes, flowers, plants, roots, soil, water, laughter, tears, misunderstandings, love triangles, rumpled sheets and at least one episode with Marigold feeding Daniel icing straight from the bowl.
Let the multi-shipping commence!

Also, Joel McHale's hotness constantly takes me by surprise. I always think of him as snarky and then I see pictures of him and wham! hotness in the FACE.

And Joel McHale is SO HOT. I totally know what you mean. He's not supposed to be all GUH-worthy, but HE IS. And I want him to make out with Karen on her kitchen counter. :D

ME TOO. I'll bet he's very good with his mouth. :x

Lily/Adam/Malcolm: I've been over and over it, and I'm still not sure which variation I prefer. My solution? OT3, y'all! That or lots of macho posturing between Adam and Malcolm, hackles raised, terse exchanges whilst Adam clutches a rake. And Lily being vaguely oblivious to the HAVOC she's creating by loosening up. Just so you know? I blame you for any and all feelings I have re: Mr. Fassbender. I was completely indifferent to him pre-Teeth, Claws, Guiness. And now this. All your fault.
Also Patrick/Ellie SO HARD. Matt Smith could kill that role and Emily Blunt would be cooly amused (and totally INTO HIM and just APPALLED at herself).
(also, I made full-on dolphin noises when I saw "The Aching City" as a title. *swoon*)

Oh, I am all for the OT3, yo. It would be so much fun to watch. I think Rachel Weisz does oblivious really well, and the boys would just be all over her. AND THEN EACH OTHER!!! :D
Michael Fassbender is something of an acquired taste, but I HAVE ACQUIRED IT.

YES! A million times: Yes!
Yours will be up on Monday, I think. All my images are not on my home laptop. *bounces*

Right, so this is the way the ships are supposed to work out (JSYK):
Lily/Adam. She's starting to feel free and maybe, just maybe what Adam observes as "worrying" is actually disturbingly hot. And maybe he needs to free himself too!
Ellie/Malcolm/Patrick. Let's face it: she flits around from project to project because she's brilliant and bored. She needs two men just to keep herself entertained. Patrick gets what he's always secretly wanted. And Malcolm thinks this is do-able, even though it's not Lily, because a threesome is the definition of casual, right? But Ellie and Patrick, well, they kind of sneak up on him and whammo he's in it for the long haul.
Mari/Daniel. Because he's an uptight banker and she's a free-spirited baker, and when they do finally cross the divide between them it's explosive and magical.
JSYK. :)

YES! They're totally snarking at each other and then when he finally gives in and she feeds him her double chocolate fudge muffins, it's love. ♥
