Oh, no, I definitely adore those two. BECAUSE - I think she wouldn't take him quite as seriously as everyone else? She would know about him and probably did some project on Peggy Carter at some point at uni, but she gets that sometimes he just wants to sit at a cafe and look around and not have to be THE Steve Rogers. She'd just want to hang out and have a laugh and sometimes the conversations would turn political and then they'd really have fun!
And HE would be this guy who was so nice and polite and it would weird her out at first, but then she'd be all: Why the hell haven't people been this considerate ALWAYS?
Then they'd go on a road trip and she'd be his blogger and they'd make out and then eat food and make out some more and he'd propose on the side of the road in Kansas somewhere and she'd say 'no', but then she'd propose to him a year later at Disney World and he'd say 'yes' and they're just adorable.
If only my enthusiasm for writing would return. I used to write DAILY. Now it's a struggle to write anything. I don't know what happened. I blame my job, honestly.
Nora is very used to being the rational one in the room, going all the way back to her relationship with her mom and she’s never really come up against anyone that truly challenges her – and this GHOST is challenging her. But he’s challenging her in a way that’s kinda safe? Since he’s a ghost, it’s not like he can fire her or break up with her or even really physically touch her and that’s liberating. She can say all these things to him and re-grow that backbone and it feels AWESOME. Basically – he inadvertently helps her get her sass back.
He, on the other hand, is so used to people wanting him just for his services and the idea that someone would help him because it’s the ‘right’ thing to do just throws him like nothing else. He used to be a MERCHANT captain, so people never do things unless they get something out of it. But SHE does. Nora can’t imagine not knowing where you came from and or what happened to yourself – especially if it means you end up as a ghost! She’s helping him for him and he doesn’t know what to do with that.
And of course – once she gets to know him it’s all: He’s a GHOST, but I want to climb him like a TREE.
Or Marshall Mann/Christine Chapel (or the Mary/McCoy side from the same AU.) I just re-read "Will You Meet Me Halfway" and was loving how adorable Christine & Marshall were together. Mary & McCoy aren't adorable together, by any stretch of the imagination, but there was a certain brusque sympathy between the two of them. Do you still have those notebooks of scenes between the two pairs? In your 'verse, did they ever realign the OTPs, or did they proceed merrily (or resignedly) onward?

Right. Marshall and Christine were happy and in lurve for a while and then one day they just looked at each other and sort said -I have to try it. I can't NOT try it. So they broke up SUPER amicably and a year later saw McCoy proposing to Christine and Mary and Marshall going on their first date. Marshall and Christine still talk. ♥
I can kind-of see that! It would be rather dreadful if Marshall & Christine came to the realization at vastly different times, so I'm glad in your 'verse it was concurrent. And I could definitely see McCoy proposing to Christine! Despite the poor end to his first marriage, he hopefully had a positive view of marriage in general. Mary, not so much! A long-term relationship (much less marriage) with her would be rather more fraught with peril! {grin}
