once i ran to you, now i run from you

Someone needs to talk me out of writing fic for a show I've never even watched one episode of (Stargate Universe) all because I like the idea of Robert Carlyle in space being charmed by a blonde medic.

Seriously, talk me down, folks.

Has anyone actually seen this show? Is it worth a look?

Haven't seen it, but people keep thinking I have because I'm a Star Trek fan, if that's any help.

Thanks for the earworm, by the way.

take my tears and that's not nearly aaalll...

I'm thinking I'll just write something and see where it goes. I may try to find a snippet of it somewhere and see what it's like.

And I heard that song early this morning when I went to get some milk, it's been in my head since 8:20 this morning and it is now 5:03 pm. I'm hoping by infecting others it will leave me! :P

If you write it, I'll probably read it. Was lost as all heck on that Chapel/Guy-who-was-not-McCoy fic, but it was still good for the characters I did know!

Haven't seen it...heard the writing isn't particularly strong. OTOH, Robert Carlyle. :)

IKR! I've heard not so good things about it and am wondering how much I have to watch to get the gist of things. Because: ROBERT CARLYLE!

I haven't seen it, but I am a big SG-1 and SGA fan, so I will most likely give SGU a shot!

That's kind of where I am, too. I figure watch a few eps and if I don't like it, that's where the fic comes in! :D

I've seen the show. It's...not like the other two stargate shows. It's supposed to be darker, but it's just...different. Less funny. Excellent actors, they do pretty well. I'm not a fan of the show but I keep watching it. My suggestion is to watch one episode. If you don't like it, you won't like the rest.

Aw, see? That's the thing. I do like a little bit of humor with my sci-fi. Not a lot, but some. I'll probably give it a whirl and see where it takes me. It's just the first season, they're probably trying to find their feet.

Thanks! :D

There is some funny. Just not nearly as much as either of the other two shows.

I personally really like it, though I won't pretend it's likely to be everyone's cup of tea or that it's sheer brilliance or anything. I'm probably biased b/c I love all things Stargate, anyway.

Anyway. To me it's like, SGA desperately wanting to be cool enough to sit at the BSG lunch table. Sometimes it feels like it's just trying too hard, but there's really an awesome little kid in there just needing space to find himself. I'm quite fond. I decided early on to just like the things I like (two of which ARE Robert Carlyle and the blonde medic *g*) and mentally gloss over the rest.

So yeah. I'd recommend giving two or three episodes a shot (mainly because I try to give any show with any promise more than just the pilot to find its feet with me).

I think I will. It sounds a little like SG1 meets Lost and I always love people stranded in desperate situations. It sounds intriguing and I'm willing to give it a season! :D

(and there's Robert Carlyle)

Robert Carlyle is pretty much always win. *g*

Just commenting to say, that I managed to catch some of an ep on youtube this am before work...

I kind of like it. :D
