My Google-fu is failing me. All-knowing friends-list, is there a specific name for the bags that donated blood is kept in? Or are they just simply called 'bags'? Or is it something else entirely?

Try "plasma bag." That is what it seems they're patented under. Though I would expect most people using them would indeed call them "blood bags." But they really (usually) only contain plasma.
