It's true. Most people have left LJ for DW, Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook. If you're here for fandom, it's probably a losing battle. But I can't see any way to do what I like to do in fandom anywhere else. There is no way in hell I would try to move the xf_book_club or xf_santa to Tumblr, or God forbid, Facebook.
The other reason I'm here because I've always kept a journal and I still want to keep one. It was nicer in some ways when I had people following me and commenting, but the loss of readership isn't going to change what I do. If no one is reading my LJ, well, no one was reading it when I kept it on paper.
