Things on a Monday.

Hi!
I’m going to do my best to start posting once a week again.
Things!
1. The new job is going really well. I like what I’m doing and it feels like a good fit. I had some very encouraging feedback on Friday and this may turn out to be more of a long-term post than temporary. Which is great! It’s nice working for an organisation that actually wants its employees to develop professionally.
2. Writing! I’m doing it? Bits and pieces, but I’m trying. I’m writing mostly by hand at the moment, which is working out for me. I’m filling up my new notebook rather quickly. My thoughts are just better geared to handwriting at the moment. We’ll see!
3. I wrote the ending of my original fic! Well, most of it. I need to write some of the rest, but it has been really helpful. I know where I need to get to. I figured out my villain/antagonist. I know what I want to have happen character development-wise and I think I set things up for the other books that will follow. Yay!
4. I’ve discovered Inspector Lewis. Laurence Fox is rather dishy, isn’t he? I could see him doing Lord Peter Wimsey in a few years when he’s in his 40s. Lucky Billie Piper!
5. I’m heading to Wales in September for a bit of a holiday. Le husband has to go to a conference in the town where my in-laws are and I’m tagging along to have a break. I have a list of things to look up at the National Library, so that’s going to be one of my days. The other days are going to spent wandering and talking and petting the wonderful family puppy.
Here is a wee collage of my favourite characters and an itty, bitty snippet.

Nora clicked Print next to the list of titles Myron had requested at the library and waited for the small printer on the desk to start up. It eventually started to spit out the list.
"Fascinating," Alec said from the doorway. "You have a miniature printing press at your hands. How extraordinary."
He took a step forward. The power light on the printer flickered and a blot of ink appeared on the page. Nora threw Alec a warning glare.
He took a step back and frowned. "That is becoming most inconvenient."
"I wonder what it is," Nora said taking the sheet off the printer absently as she stared at him. "Is it an electrical current? Or are you mucking up some electromagnetic waves or something."
"Perhaps it's magic as your friend posits," Alec said disgruntled.
"It's as good a theory as any others," Nora said turning back to Myron's computer. "They say magic is simply science we don't understand yet, and science was never my strongest subject in the first place."
"Whereas the others you have well in hand," he said.
"Do you disapprove?" she asked.
"Of women becoming educated?" he said. "Not at all. Within moderation, naturally."
She turned to glare at him but caught a glint in his eyes. "You're teasing me?"
"It appears that I am," he said.
"It also appears that your eyes are turning blue," she said standing up. "Very blue. That's new."
Happy Monday! ♥
