A/N: Because Cleric Marco deserved to be remembered too.
Summary: Amazing who you can run into in a pub in Manchester.
Marcus has just bellied up to the bar to get a pint and it's her hair that makes him look twice. However, it's the look of delighted recognition that makes him stare.
"Oh, wow. It's you," she says. "I wondered about you actually."
"Well, that's...nice?" he says wondering if this girl's a bit daft in the head, but with legs like the ones she's got, you can take the good with the crazy. "Do I know you?"
"Nope," she says with a grin. "But you did. You were very kind to me once."
"Only the once?" Marcus asks with a hint of grin. "That's a terrible oversight."
She laughs and shakes her head. "You're certainly more, ah, secular, this time around."
Marcus has no idea what to make of that statement, but she looks so happy to see him. No one has ever been this pleased with him before. His mates in the corner are forgotten as is the match on the telly. He can tell already that football is no match for this girl.
"What's your name?" he asks.
"Amy," she says. "I'm Amy."
"Well, Amy, let me buy you a drink," he says. He waves the bartender over and off her grin orders two pints of Stella.
As he pulls out his wallet, she puts her hand on his arm and with a voice laced with sadness and something that sounds like regret of all things, says, "No. This one is definitely on me."
Marcus just nods. She gives the bartender some money and Marcus says, "I must have been extremely kind to you this once upon a time."
"You saved my life," she says solemnly. "That deserves a pint at the very least."
"Well, here's to lives saved," he says holding his glass up.
"And to chance encounters with familiar strangers," Amy says tapping her glass to his.
They take a drink and Amy grins around the rim of her glass, then says, "So, tell me. You wouldn't happen to be Catholic?"
