Self-Reccing Meme and the A-Team

So, I saw The A-Team movie last night. It was surprisingly not bad. It had explosions, scenes with people building stuff, enough testoterone to knock out a city and was pretty funny. Also, when did Will Tippin get hot? Goodness, gracious Bradley Cooper's pretty.
Now for that Self-Reccing Meme that's going around. Can I just say that this last year has been truly an amazing year to write in? I've met such wonderful folks and read some incredible stories and learned so much.
Post, in your journal, a rec list singling out the best of your own fics. Tell people why you are especially proud of those particular fics, and of course provide links to them. Yes, that's right, this step involves self-promotion. How else are people supposed to find your fics? List as many or as few as you feel appropriate to represent your body of writing.
Also include a paragraph about the types of fics you most enjoy reading or are most interested in reading in the immediate future -- favorite tropes, pairings, fandoms, whatever. If you're particularly lazy, link to that Dear Writer post you did for whatever holiday exchange comes to mind.
Reply to other rec posts (like for example the one you are reading now) by reccing a fic of your own that might fit the original poster's tastes, or that you'd just really like them to read, because maybe they don't know they'd like it.
Star Trek 2009, Alternatives, Chapel, Chapel/Korby, T, 1,002
This was the first time I really thought about Christine and this has become my personal canon for her. I love the idea that cooking isn’t really that far removed from science, as a Questionable Content comic once said: ‘It’s like science for hungry people.’ And Christine using cooking as a way to connect to other people and as a way to gain her confidence back, was a delicious challenge. (Yes, yes, pun intended!)
In Plain Sight/Star Trek 2009, Will You Meet me Halfway? Christine Chapel/Roger Korby, Christine Chapel/Leonard McCoy UST, Christine Chapel/ Marshall Mann, M, 2,983
This story came out of a drabble prompt and I couldn’t resist giving it a go. I love Marshall Mann and believe that he deserves wonderful things in life. I feel the same way about Christine Chapel. So why not throw them together and see what happens? I wrote this over the span of a weekend, the words just flew hot and fast and I wrote them down as quickly as I could. I enjoyed writing small scenes almost as they were snapshots. It was also fun to try to use more descriptions of the setting and small details.
Black Books, Notes from the Lint Trap, Ensemble, T, 2,594
Oh, was this a challenge or what? I love Black Books. It’s an amazing show: incredibly well-written, funny, wonderfully acted and, here is where the challenge came in, extremely visual. So much of this show depends on seeing the gag. I’m also not a native of the UK. I learn new idioms, customs, etc every day. So this was a massive challenge to write. I’m actually really, really happy with how it turned out. I definitely have to thank
fringedweller for her Brit-picking and suggestions.

Book One: The Feeling of Being In Motion Again including Hands and an Outtake, Chapel/McCoy UST, T, 26,593

Book Two Standing in the Doorway, Chapel/McCoy UST, T, 19,641
I’m putting this one here because I am so in love with these characters and still can’t believe I wrote so much and stayed with the story.
Iron Man, A Proposal, Maybe, Tony/Pepper UST, PG
Iron Man got me back into writing. This story wrote itself and I love what I did with the two of them. I almost don’t ever want Tony and Pepper to get together, because it will only end in tears. I want them to tease and banter and talk around the serious stuff forever.
As for what I like in a story, to be honest, I love things that are well-written. I enjoy plotty, long fics and short, snapshot fics. I'm a sucker for a happy ending and comedy. The dialogue has to be snappy and intelligent. I don't mind angst as long as it has a purpose and is resolved. Torture!fic is not my scene.
If I'm being super nit-picky, it also needs to be well-formatted. I have awful eyes (hello, mr. astigmatism, how are you today?) so if the text itself has no paragraph breaks or the font is too small, I automatically backspace. Disabling customized comment pages for your journal is your friend!
As for fandoms, if you tell me it's well-written, I'll pretty much always give it a chance.
The fact is, I've been so spoiled by amazing fics, half the time I can't watch the show/film anymore because the fic just surpasses it.
