A/N: So I lied to my flist and here is more Jess/Becker. Prompted by [livejournal.com profile] taraljc over at the Just Kiss Her Already commentfic meme.

Summary: Here are Jess and Becker's five first kisses. Jess/Becker.

1.

“Hold still.”

“I am holding still.”

“No, you’re not. You’re moving your eyebrows all over the place.”

“Jess. They’re eyebrows. They only go up and down.”

“Well, that’s what yours are doing. Hold still.”

Becker did his best to keep still while Jess gently dabbed a bit of alcohol-soaked gauze to a gash he’d managed to get right above his left eye. He tried not to wince at the sting of the liquid on the cut.

“Sorry,” she whispered before biting her lip.

“It’s alright,” he said. She stepped in a little closer to make sure she cleaned all of the wound. His hands came up to rest on her hips. He watched as a blush started into her cheeks at the feel of his touch.

“I don’t think you need stitches,” she said. “But let me put an plaster on it.”

“Okay,” he said liking the way her mouth formed the words and the serious way she treated him.

Her hands rose as she carefully placed a bandage over the wound. Her wrist came to just next to his nose and he could smell the sweet-spicy scent that he always associated with her and he simply couldn’t help himself. He turned his head and brushed his lips against the soft skin of her wrist, just over the pulse.

Jess sucked in a tiny gasp. He looked up and saw how wide her eyes were. Her hand was still pressing the bandage to his forehead. Her fingers trailed down the side of his face.

“I thought I told you to hold still,” Jess said.

“Sorry,” Becker said. “Couldn’t help myself.”

“Oh,” Jess said. She licked her lips and his eyes followed the motion.

“Your turn,” he murmured.

“My turn?”

“Yeah,” he said leaning in and as his mouth hovered just over hers he said, “Hold still.”

2.

“Damn it!”

Becker pulled hard at the pole while Jess strained in the handcuffs. Both let out cries of dismay when nothing worked.

Jess looked at the water swirling around her knees. “You’ve got to get out of here,” she said frantically. “Go! Through the vent.”

“Like hell I’m leaving you,” he said trying once again to kick the pole away from the wall in the hopes it would break and they could slide the cuffs off and they could leave the basement that was steadily filling with water. “Matt’s on his way. He'll get here.”

“But not soon enough,” Jess said, the water up to her waist. “Becker, please!”

“No!” he shouted giving the pole another ferocious kick. It stayed firmly embedded in the concrete. “God damn it!”

Jess just watched him, tears streaming down her face, the water stinging the cuts on her wrists from multiple attempts to pull herself out of them. She whispered brokenly, “Becker.”

He met her eyes and they just stared at one another, the only sound in the room was the rushing of water.

Becker blinked first. “Matt’s coming,” he said. “We just have to wait. I’ll help you.” He stepped forward and cupped her face. “This isn’t it. I promise.”

Five minutes later when Matt and the rest of the team arrived, his heart sank at the sight of water spilling through the top of a vent in the floor. Then Becker emerged with a gasp and his eyes widened with relief.

“Becker!” Matt shouted. “Where’s Jess?”

“I need something that will open handcuffs,” Becker shouted hoarsely. Then he sucked in a deep breath and went back underwater.

Matt stared in disbelief for only a moment and then after one of the men handed him his firearm, he quickly lowered himself into the water-filled room. He blinked in the dim light and then saw what Becker had been doing.

The captain’s mouth was pressed to Jess’ transferring much needed air to the young woman. Matt quickly swam over and pressed the gun to the link of the handcuffs. He nodded at Jess, who turned her face into Becker’s shoulder.

Matt pulled the trigger.

Later, Jess and Becker sat wearing heavy blankets and drinking hot cups of tea while Matt and the rest examined the area.

Matt just had to grin when he heard Jess say, “You know, as far as first kisses go, I think you’ve set the bar rather high. No one else is going to be able to say they kissed me in order to save my life.”

“Like I’m ever letting anyone else kiss you,” Becker said before pulling her close.

3.

“Well, aren’t you the prize idiot.”

Becker lifted his head to see Matt standing in the doorway of the locker room his arms crossed over his chest wearing an amused smirk.

“Go away, Anderson,” Becker said turning to shove his uniform into his locker and pull on his jacket.

“Oh, I will,” Matt said cheerfully. “See, I’ve got a lovely lady waiting for me just around the corner. And said lovely lady is going to let me make dinner for her and then most likely kiss her breathless amongst other pleasurable activities.”

Becker groaned. “Jesus Christ, is there a point to this?”

“I’m getting to it, don’t worry,” Matt said. “Now, as I said, I’ve got this lovely lady waiting for me because, unlike you, I actually made a move and confirmed that this stunningly gorgeous woman was actually interested in me and after a brief and mostly painless conversation, I’m now living in relative bliss with the lady of my dreams. Because, all together now, unlike you, I’m not a prize idiot who is letting the lovely lady of his dreams slip away because he’s too much of a plank to go after her.”

“Shut up, Matt.”

“No, I don’t think so,” Matt said. “Not this time. ‘Cause I really cannot figure you out. It’s obvious you like the girl. It’s also obvious she likes you. You know what we do; we hardly have the luxury of time or guarantees, so why are you stuck in this holding pattern? Unless you actually get off on stringing her along.”

Becker whirled around and pointed a finger at him. “Careful, Matt.”

“Why then?” Matt asked. “Why are you being so deliberately dense?”

Becker glared at him for another minute and then looked away. “That guy from the minister’s office was here again today. She had to spend all day with him in meetings and every time I saw them, they were talking.” He grimaced. “He made her smile.”

“And?” Matt prompted.

“And, he’s a much better candidate for her than I am,” Becker said looking almost nauseous. “He’s not going to get ripped apart by raptors or put her in danger or get deployed at the drop of a hat. He’d be stable and provide for her.”

Matt shook his head. “Christ. You’re more of an idiot than I thought.”

“Hey,” Becker said looking up and glaring again.

“Look, before you decide to commit seppuku or some other act of self-inflicted torture, perhaps you should ask the girl in question what she wants,” Matt said. “And stop being a moron.”

Becker continued to glare.

Matt just grinned. “I’m off. Dinner and kissing and a warm bed with a gorgeous woman awaits me.”

Becker watched him go and debated throwing something at his head. Then he sighed.

He was a moron.

If you asked him later, he’d never be able to say exactly how he managed to get to Jess’ flat considering when he got into his SUV he hadn’t had the slightest of intentions of going to see her. That didn’t negate the fact that there he was, knocking on her door.

When she answered the door wearing a pair of black yoga pants and a white tank top, her hair loose around her face, he just stared at her.

“Becker?” she asked her brow furrowing.

“I’m an idiot,” he more or less blurted out.

Her eyebrows rose.

“I can’t give you any promises,” he blundered on. “I could get sent back to a warzone at the drop of a hat and while I’m okay with that, I could never expect my partner to have to be. I run headfirst into danger and that’s not likely to change. I still wish we used actual firearms instead of EMDs and I’m absolutely terrified of losing another person while I’m in charge. I’m also a really lousy cook and as you can probably tell I’m an even lousier conversationalist. I, um, yeah. Shit.”

Jess blinked. She opened her mouth and then closed it. Then she opened it once more and said, “Well, you’re certainly right about one thing. You are an idiot.”

Then she stepped up close and slid her hand to the back of his neck and pulled his face to hers, kissing him lightly on the lips. She pulled back slightly to meet his eyes.

It was Becker’s turn to blink.

“And I already knew all of that, you know,” she said softly. “And I want you anyway.”

“Okay,” he said faintly.

“Besides,” she went on, “you know the nickname Connor gave you?”

“Action man?” he asked sounding confused.

“That’s the one,” she said. “I always did wonder if it translated to places other than the field.”

His jaw dropped and she just shrugged. “Conversation is overrated.”

Becker slowly let a grin spread across his face. “Oh, I can work with that.”

Then he scooped her up and walked into her flat, kicking the door shut with his foot.

4.

"Get down!" Becker yelled as he ran towards Jess. She barely had a chance to open her mouth as he grabbed her and threw her down onto the ground, covering her with his own body.

The building behind them exploded. Dust and debris rained down on them for several moments afterwards.

Becker lifted his head and looked down. She had a smudge of dirt on her cheek.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

She nodded. "Are you?"

"Yeah. More or less."

They stared at each other for a moment.

"You just threw yourself on top of me," Jess pointed out.

"Yeah. Sorry about that," he said not actually moving off of her.

"Oh, I'm not," she told him. "As far as heroic clichéd moves go, it's one of the nicer ones."

He tilted his head. "Jess, are you implying that I'm a cliché?"

"No! The move is the cliché. Not you," she said quickly. "And honestly the only thing that's missing from this particular scene in order for it to really fulfil its clichéd potential is the inevitable kiss." Her eyes widened and then she said, "I can't believe I just said that."

Becker grinned. "You know they're called clichés for a reason."

"Oh?" she said noticing that he hadn't lifted himself off of her yet and if anything, he seemed to be closer.

"Yeah," he said. "They're clichés because they work."

Then he leaned down and kissed her.

5.

Jess stood in the parking lot staring at her empty parking space. She had completely forgotten that her car was in the garage. Abby and Connor had already left, Matt and Emily were off on a proper date and it was eleven o’clock at night, meaning no one else was around.

Not to mention how utterly horrible the day had been. From meetings with that arse from the Home Office, to having to totally redo all of her programming from a glitch in the servers, finally to the mission that afternoon in which a poor herbivore from the Cretaceous hadn’t survived crossing the M40. The creature had left it’s nest of babies behind. Babies which were currently in the menagerie.

Horrible wasn’t a strong enough word for how abysmal the day had been.

And now, no car. Bus it was.

She let out a sigh that was half sob, half moan.

The sound of a engine approached her and she turned. A figure on a motorbike pulled up just next to her. He removed his helmet and Becker gave her a small smile.

“Please don’t tell me Connor stole your car again?” he asked.

“No,” she said with a tiny laugh. “I forgot it was at the garage.”

“Want a lift?” he asked.

Jess eyed the motorbike, knowing it had been Danny’s once upon a time and that Becker often drove it. She pursed her lips. “Will you think less of me if I say yes, thank you, but I’ve never actually ridden a motorbike before?”

“Oh, yes,” he said, reaching for the spare helmet. “The fact that you’ve never ridden on a motorbike before is clearly the deal-breaker that makes me like you less.” He gave her a proper grin. “Will you think less of me if I tell you that I’m kind of chuffed that your first time on a bike is with me?”

Jess smiled and took the helmet. “Hardly, because I’m kind of chuffed myself.”

She put the helmet on and looped her messenger bag over her chest. Then she gingerly got on the back of the bike. Becker reached his hand back and placed it on her thigh, pulling her closer.

“Just hold on tight and lean when I lean, okay?” he said.

She nodded and slid her arms around his waist while he put his helmet back on.

Then they were off, out of the lot into the night. Jess immediately tightened her hold on him and scooted closer, her thighs pressing into his.

The thrum of the engine beneath her both relaxed and energized her and she discovered she was smiling. The awful bureaucracies and deaths of the day lessened their grip on her mind and she just watched the lights of the city fly by.

He turned a corner and they were flying down past the Southbank, the lights reflected in the Thames wavy and almost magical in the dark.

Jess pressed her hands flat on his leather jacket and he briefly let one hand off the handle to cover hers and squeeze gently.

Then he was accelerating fast down a long stretch of road and she closed her eyes, content to just feel the wind and feel the growl of the engine and the warmth of him just in front of her.

All too soon, they arrived at her flat. Jess reluctantly unwrapped her arms from his waist and slid off the bike. She pulled her helmet off as he turned the bike off. He, far more gracefully than her, dismounted and took his helmet off. She handed hers back to him.

“Thank you,” she said. “For the lift.”

“Did you like it?” he asked almost shyly.

“Oh, I loved it!” she said smiling. “I had no idea how...alive it made you feel. Thank you.”

He smiled back. “I’m glad you liked it. I know, well, it was a crap day, wasn’t it?”

She nodded. “It was a very crap day. But, I don’t know...tonight hasn’t been so bad.”

Becker’s eyes were hard to read in the dim light, but the hand that he reached up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear was gentle and warm.

She could never say later if she moved first or if he did and really in the end, it didn’t matter, because his lips were soft and searching on hers and she had been falling so hard and fast for this man for months and when he made a noise of want deep in his throat and clutched her to him, she was just happy to know that at least he was falling hard and fast alongside of her.

He stayed the night platonically, well, mostly platonically, in her bed and in the morning, they got up early for her to make breakfast and with enough time to drive along the Thames before going in to work.

Excuse me while I make dolphin noises in my head. All of these were lovely. I especially enjoyed the first one (sensual; him kissing her wrist--guh), the second one (intense), and the fifth one (thrilling & sweet).

Hee! Thank you so much! I just loved the idea of him kissing her wrist. I suspect that Becker is really a deep sensualist and romantic at heart.

I had decided I was going to finish my turning-longer-than-expected fic for the "Jess gets volunteered to go home with Becker after he gets bitten" prompt, and then I was going to be done and focus on all my other way too many WIPS. But no, then I had to find the prompt I ficced for yestarday.
