Things!

1. The lovely tabaqui asked me to chatter on about Almost Human and since it contains my movie boyfriend Karl Urban, I can so do this.

Almost Human!

I really thought this show had some serious potential. I love films like Blade Runner and I really think if this show had been given another season, it could have gone somewhere cool. The setting is FILLED with all sorts of things they could have done. Imagine every single Phillip K. Dick or Neal Stephenson story - it could have gone into this show. I just want my rain-soaked techno-neuromancer groove show, is that too much to ask?

I liked grumpy!jaded!cop!Karl and Dorian the Super Awesome Android. I've loved Lili Taylor since Mystic Pizza (showing my age again!) and to have her be the boss? Perfection!

Ugh, why cancel the shows with potential? *sulks* I liked having Karl on my telly on a weekly basis. SO disappointing.

2. Yuletide noms are open! Wooo!

3. I've discovered that I've somehow started writing my original thing in first person. It feels good. I'm...going to go for it and see what happens next.

Yes! So much potential for *so much* cool stuff. I wanted to see cyberpunk and Blade Runner and oh, so many other things inserted in bits and pieces, here and there. *sigh*

I know, right? Just plain ridiculous! I wonder if they went overbudget and that's why they pulled the plug? Although, I've always thought that if the writing was sound, it doesn't matter what it looks like. Look at the X-Files? They managed to pass Vancouver off as Florida!

So SO disappointed, but not terribly surprised. Not a lot of great sci-fi gets to stay on TV. Stupid people!

And oo first person could be fun if it lets the flow going! And pictures are always nice!

Also yay for yuletide! Though DAMN am I glad I double and triple checked the spreadsheet - I was good and had my list posted in not one, but two places and STILL had 2 people who had already nommed characters from Ripper Street. Which granted this means we have lots to choose from, but still. We all three of us could have been screwed lol.
