Oh, dear Lord. I was minding my own business, walking out to get some lunch. (Tuna sandwich and crisps, if you're interested) And I was attacked by the killerest of killer McCoy/Chapel plot bunnies.

McCoy/Chapel in a Romancing the Stone AU.

McCoy is Jack Colton, of course. Chapel = Joan. Gaila = her sister. Uhura = her awesome publisher. Scotty = the Danny Devito character. Nero = the bad guy. Chekov = the crazy Columbian drugrunner, except he's Russian!

Look at this dialogue:

Joan Wilder: Excuse me, mister. Can you tell where can I get to a telephone?
Jack Colton: No, lady. I don't any idea. I'm sorry.
Joan Wilder: But it's very important that I get to one.
Jack Colton: Well, we've all got our problems today. Don't we?
Joan Wilder: Can you tell me where the nearest town is?
Jack Colton: English speaking? How about Miami?
Joan Wilder: Will there be another bus?
Jack Colton: Another bus? This is it.
[looks around a deserted, dirt mountain road]
Jack Colton: You've got rush hour.
Joan Wilder: I need to get to Cartagena.
Jack Colton: Cartagena? Angel, you are hell and gone from Cartagena. Cartagena's over there on the coast.
Joan Wilder: But they told me this bus...
Jack Colton: Who told you that? Who told you this bus was going to Cartagena?
Joan Wilder: That man...
Jack Colton: That nice man who pulled a gun on you? What else did he tell you?

They'd say this stuff to each other!

Am I completely crazy? Should I delay my the sequel in the Going to Georgia series and focus on this? Because, it feels crazy. Does someone else want it? You can have it! Oh, heck.

I told you I didn't want to work today.

Um, it is possible that my life will be made if this comes about.

I have no time!! But, I really, really, really want to do it. I think I have to. It's becoming a moral imperative. I am now hearing Karl's voice saying all of Michael Douglas' lines.

IT'S DISTRACTING AND YET I CAN'T STOP GRINNING AND CHUCKLING TO MYSELF!!!

Good thing the next story in the series is fully plotted out. I can delay it for a few days. Damn it. Damn you KARL! ALL YOUR FAULT!

I must find my copy of that film now!

My mom has my copy.

My mom lives in Florida.

I am separated by AN OCEAN from my copy.

God, I hope Pier Video has it. They recently restocked all their films and I can never find anything in there.

Pier Video! *wibbles*

Can you still hear the waves crashing underneath it?

Oh, I miss Aber so much!

(Psst. this (http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4473825/Romancing_the_Stone_(1984)_(Michael_Douglas__Kathleen_Turner)) may be of some interest.)

*GASP* Thank you! Will wait to click when I'm actually on my own machine.

And ah yes, I love Pier Video. I love how you can hear the waves and then in the fall the starlings when they come home to roost. And the fact that you can hear the arcade next door. Aber is probably one of my most favorite places in the world.

I used to love watching the starlings when I lived in the Theological College. Wtf is up with turning that into a hotel?
I used to like sitting on the war memorial when I was feeling sad. The view from there is fantastic.

I loved walking down from the Hugh Owen library through the woods as opposed to the road. With the amazing trees and the blankets of bluebells.

Oh, they've been doing some weird things around here. Woolworth's closed and there has been talk of moving the train station back towards Llanbadarn, where they'd build more strip mall types of stuff. They want to put a huge Debenhams in the middle of the town which would cause the greengrocer's, Polly's and some other stores to have to move.

I work in Machynlleth and a lot of us are trying to keep Tesco's out. Can you imagine a Tesco's in Machynlleth?

I like my small towns small.

Mach! I did some of my teacher training in Mach. And no, the idea of a Tesco there does strange things to my brain.

I think I like the Aber of 1997-2001 better than the modern one.

Mach is lovely. The ultimate in small Welsh towns. Were you expected to speak Welsh?

No, because the school is listed as an English medium school, or at least it was when I was there. Plus I taught English which would obviously be delivered in English. All the teachers bar one spoke Welsh though.

My Welsh got a lot better when I was there!

I tried to learn it, but only managed one semester of Wlpan. I can pronounce things without completely embarrassing myself, but would love to know more.

Kids in English medium schools now have to learn it from a much younger age than I had to - my school year was the very first to have to take a full GCSE in the language. I abandoned languages for A level, which I think was a mistake in retrospect, although I was sick of them by the end of my GCSE years.

I can read and understand far more Welsh than I speak, but I can get the gist of what people are saying if I stumble on a Welsh language TV show. Down here in the south it's not really spoken as much as where you are.

OMG!!

It would be absolutely amazing to do it, because I can see it in my head. I adore that movie!

DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!

Hee! It's one of my all time faves! It'll be the crackiest thing I've ever written, but I don't think I can help myself!

Oh, Karl, what have you done to all of us?!

I'm writing it as we speak! It started out kind of cracky and but then it decided to develop a plot. *rolls eyes*

And I re-watched it last week. I always forget how funny it is! There are some fantastic one-liners and Michael Douglas is just the best!
