urgh and blergh
Feb. 2nd, 2016 04:06 pmThis is me just whinging about life, the universe, and everything so feel free to skip over - I just need to yell into the void for a moment.
1. My co-workers are driving me nuts. They keep talking about food and not in a fun way, but about how much they're NOT eating and what they're NOT drinking and how they need to lose this much and this much and I'm doing my best not to side-eye them while I plan on baking this cake this weekend. http://www.browneyedbaker.com/salted-caramel-apple-cake/
2. We're still living with my in-laws. Which is fine? They're lovely and have been a god-send this past year for my husband so that he and I could recuperate and so that he could find his equilibrium again. That being said if I don't get some time to myself where no one else is around I may scream. It might happen. I love them all but I haven't been alone, properly ALONE in six months and I'm getting twitchy and I burst into tears this morning after my shower. I'm stressed out and I think it's causing my hair to get all oily on top and that makes me sad.
3. I'm writing! Which is good! I have 20,000 words on one novel and 30,000 on another. The easy-peasy romance however has developed a proper plot which is freaking me out a little because of course I can't just write something simple. Oh, no, I need a cast of thousands. On the bright side, I did just cast Yael Grobglas and Gina Rodriguez (from Jane the Virgin) as the icy business woman who accepts the help of a sweet accountant to plan her escape from the mob. They're secondary characters but they make me smile.
4. My mom has shingles in her ear and on her scalp. She had the injection against them so she hasn't developed the blisters, but she's in a lot of pain and the meds add a whole new set of side-effects and she's exhausted. And I'm an ocean away. I feel like crap and sad and helpless. But I'm texting and emailing and offering up tv choices for her while she's taking it easy.
5. My little nephew and sis and bro-in-law are immigrating to Australia next week. *sniffs* I'm going to miss them. I've loved being Auntie Seren SO much. My mother-in-law is going to be so gutted. On the bright side, we're off to play ping-pong and eat pizza and drink craft brews this week, nephew and puppy, too!
That's me done whinging, I think. I hope everyone else is doing okay! Media wise, if you haven't caught Galavant yet, it's so worth a watch. It's delightful and a shining beacon of hilarity.
