Sharing is Caring

Day one: a song
Day two: a picture
Day three: a book/ebook/fanfic
Day four: a site
Day five: a youtube clip
Day six: a quote
Day seven: whatever tickles your fancy

I'm sure most of you have seen this, but in case you haven't, here's the trailer for The Price of Milk with Karl Urban. I've kind of watched it repeatedly for when he says "Coows!" It just kills me. And makes me want to move to New Zealand, because, dear Lord is it beautiful over there. (The scenery, not just Karl!)

I made some awesome Guinness Stew last night, so here is the recipe to try it for yourself. I actually made it without the beef and added more potatoes, carrots, mushrooms (thickly sliced) and red peppers. It works really well as a veggie dish. You can use a substitute for the beef bouillon as well!

On a completely different note, there is a gentleman outside my (rented) cottage painting the exterior wall. I don't really mind this, because it really needed to be re-painted. However, he just appeared earlier this week and started hacking and sanding away at the plaster before he started painting. Our landlords told us nothing about this. My husband, who works from home, all of a sudden had some guy outside the window banging away and there are paint chips in my flower pots.

Am I being unreasonable to think that maybe this deserved advance warning? My landlords are rather elderly and probably don't think of this as being my house as it is their property and therefore they can do whatever they want. But, a note through the door would have been nice.

I agree with you - it's basic courtesy, if nothing else. Plus he should have moved your flower pots.

I'll have something for you a little later. I'm about 50% through it now.

That's sort of what I thought. My poor geraniums. *sniff* I was so proud of them growing this year.

And yay for more! I'll have something awesome to read after I do the dishes and clean the kitchen.

It's the angstiest thing I've ever written, which worries me because I'm not good at that.

Ooh, angst. Yeah, that's always a tough one. But, I know you can do it! Just read a paragraph of Thomas Hardy and that will definitely get you in the mood, so to speak. :P

One paragraph of his and I'm ready to shoot myself. Great writer, but I just can't stand him.

Jasper Fforde is one of my favourite writers! I'm constantly waiting for his latest book. One of my favourite scenes was when Miss Haversham was leading a therapy session at Wuthering Heights, and everyone said why they hated Heathcliffe. So funny!

The thing is, I like happy fics, or fics that eventually have a happy ending. I don't like fic that's angsty or dark, so having to include that in my own story is really hard.

I read the first Thursday Next and have the rest on my list of books to read. And I could easily believe that of Hardy. He's so angst-ridden it just seems like overkill at times. I came extremely close to throwing Jude the Obscure out my window.

And I do like a bit of angst in a story if it helps the plot or characters develop. I'm not one for angst for angst-sake. But, every story needs some conflict, I just like it to be resolved quickly!
