Is so excited about Yuletide this year! I participated for the first time last year and it was a super challenge and the story I got in return was just gorgeous.

These are my noms for this year:

Aliens series (movie)
The Fall
Jennifer Crusie - Faking It
Madeleine LEngle - Austin Murry OKeefe families
Once Upon A Time in the West (movie)
The Young Riders

Yes, there is a slight western theme. I love Once Upon a Time in the West. I don't know why, but if you want me to sit still for three hours, put this film on. The Young Riders was a guilty pleasure of mine when I was a tween. Funny thing, the show lasted longer than the Pony Express did.

Yay!!! Go forth and nominate! But make sure you intend to participate, they want the noms to come from folks taking part.

Must get back to work. Really don't wanna. Feel like reading and writing instead.

Yay! I just submitted my noms too! I didn't participate last year, but I did pick up a New Year's Resolution fic which was a blast to work on, and I totally surprised the person who requested it, which was a neat feeling. So yeah, I'm hooked. We'll see what happens...

Hmm, I need to go find myself a yuletide icon now...

Oh, I'm so excited. It's actually really challenging to do. I got a great prompt last year but I really had to do some research and heavy re-reading to get a good bead on the characters.

By the way, I was trying to remember the books I read before I got my ears pierced. It was so long ago! But I definitely remember these:

Johnny Tremain
A Wrinkle in Time (which, btw, completely changed my life, note one of my noms!)
Sarah, Plain and Tall
Bridge to Terabithia (oh lord, I cried)
From the Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. (I think I read this one then, it may have been later)

*grin* yeah, I'm pretty much confining my noms and eventual prompts to books that I know I can get my hands on. Rereading is definitely going to be a requirement, no matter what prompt I get!

And those are a worthy set of books. I should really re-read L'Engle... I came to them fairly late (I was in jr high, I think) but really liked the first few. I remember getting annoyed with the later ones, but that's probably because I like Meg the best of all... I do confess, however, that I never could get through Terabithia. I hated it with a passion. ;)

I think I'm going to brave Yuletide this year. I always said that that was the one thing I'd do if I ever started writing. But it is very scary.

I hadn't thought of Jennifer Crusie - I'll go for Welcome to Tempatation, I think.

Oh, you should! It's very challenging to write for fandoms that don't have much fic for them. But, I found it really fun last year. And it's not like you have to write a novel. I think 1000 words is the minimum.

I'd love to see someone try Jennifer Crusie, I think I'm going to put her down as something I'd attempt.

Some of my favourite stories are from Yuletide - I was so excited when I first discovered it as a reader.

Jennifer Crusie fic would be fantastic. I just found a copy of Charlie All Night at the library and I'd forgotten how great it was, very different from all the other Mills and Boons I'd been reading as a teenager.

Oh, I know what you mean. Some of my all-time fave stories were written for Yuletide. I mean where else do you get awesome Aliens or Lord Peter Wimsey fic? :D

Oooh, new Jennifer Crusie title! I'll have to find that one, too.

I know! And I've just been looking at the Diana Wynne Jones fics in the archive because I nominated the Magid series and Dalemark and YOU wrote an awesome Fire and Hemlock fic!! which I'd never seen before.

It is actually a pretty old Crusie title, but it was fairly recently reissued.

Oh, thank you! That was a massive challenge. Partly because the book is so awesome and hard to get a good grip on and also partly because I was actually travelling when I had to finally submit it. I was in a hostel in Washington DC I think, on holiday with my husband. I'm staying home for Xmas this year!
