Oh, Nano, I don't think I've got time for you.

I would dearly love to do NaNoWriMo this year. I have this little idea of a small, local access tv station in a small town whose general counsel spends the majority of her time dealing with the outraged public and bogus lawsuits, especially due to the antics of one of the political satire shows (kind of based on Mock the Week). There's a murder and enter the scruffy sheriff who may or may not bear a resemblance to Michael Biehn (yeah, I know, this little obsession will pass one of these days) and is grumpy and snarky like Bones (this particular obsession is probably here to stay). Cue fun dialogue and bad political and un-pc jokes with gratuitous cameos from the population of the odd little town. Think Jennifer Crusie meets the Daily Show meets Twin Peaks but without the creepiness and Bob. But there would be owls.

But, I have no time. My father is coming to visit me at the end of the month. Which is just a whole new bag of conflicted emotions. (Yay, 'cause he's my dad! Boo, 'cause he's my dad.) Not to mention the neverending list of WIPs I've managed to construct over the last, oh, FIVE YEARS.

Yeah, I think Nano will have to wait until next year.

Bummer.

I also currently have a headache the size of Montana. Tea is not helping. Why isn't the tea helping?

That does sound like an awesome plotbunny! I did sign up for NaNo, but God knows if I'll finish--November is like the Month of Hell for papers in these parts. Which sucks!

Oh, papers. :( Yeah, that does suck. But good on you for attempting NaNo! I really liked doing it last year, and it did purge a story out of my head.

I know! I'm much more bummed out than I thought I'd be because I don't have time to do nano this year either. Didn't think it would bother me, but it kinda does. *shrug*

That is an awesome idea though, someday you must write it! :)

I know! I almost wish they'd do one in the spring. I feel bad that I can't participate. I'd hate to sign up and then have to stop halfway through.

I will definitely keep the idea on a back burner. I may go for it next year.
