Ship Meme! Borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] aj.

This was fantastically fun.

Six ships you are into right now:

1. McCoy/Chapel (ST Reboot)
2. Tony/Pepper (le film)
3. Rush/Johansen (SGU)
4. Marshall/Mary (IPS)
5. Remus/Tonks
6. Connie/Mike (LO: The Mothership)

Three ships you liked but don't like/aren't a rabid fangirl for anymore:

7. Draco/Ginny
8. Danny/Lindsay (CSI: NY)
9. Mulder/Scully

Four ships you never liked

10. McKay/Keller (SGA)
11. Harry/Ginny
12. Leonard/Penny (BBT)
13. Buffy/Riley (wow, I had to go waaay back to think of one)

Two ships you're curious about, but don't actually ship

14. House/Cuddy
15. John/Elizabeth (SGA)

Why do you dislike eleven so much?

*gets ready to duck* I think I just liked the idea of Ginny more than what was actually written and I wanted to see her with someone challenging and not end up with the bloke she had a crush on when she was little. I thought it was sort of trite that they ended up together and possibly an easy answer. *ducks*

Who is someone you know that ships fourteen?

Umm, everyone? [livejournal.com profile] aj, I think you like them.

What would be your ideal scenario for couple three?

They get locked in a room together and snark for awhile before cuddling for warmth. Or at the very least, he holds her hand and when he whispers because they're running out of oxygen, his accent gets thicker.

(damn it. not another plot bunny.)

Which is your favorite moment for couple one?

Ha! Well, my favorite fic moment is probably in [livejournal.com profile] fringedweller's story I'll Find a Way to You if it Kills Me when McCoy asks Chapel to help him figure out how to kill Klingons.

How long have you been following couple six?

For the last three seasons, pretty much the second Linus Roache set foot on screen.

What's the story with eight? what made you stop liking them/caring?

The show went all weird and made Danny do stuff that wasn't very kosher and I just lost interest.

You have the power to make one ship non existent. choose from ten or twelve.

Leonard/Penny. I loved them when they were just friends. They were so cute and sweet. Now, they're all sorts of nagging and mean to Sheldon.

Which ship do you prefer, two or four?

Well, considering they're actually only ships in my head, I get to say BOTH! :P

What interests you about fifteen?

I have only seen the last couple of seasons of SGA and I like John Sheppard. I don't really know anything about Elizabeth, but a lot of people like these two. It's PEER PRESSURE, YA'LL!

Why did you stop liking seven?

I haven't stopped liking them, just lost interest.

Did your waning interest in nine kill your interest in the show?

Oh, no, the show killed my interest in them. That and the last film. I'm a seasons 1-5!Mulder/Scully fan.

What's a song that reminds you of five?

Moondance by Van Morrison (yes, I know, but it does!)

If you could have any of these two pairings double-date, who would it be?

Tony/Pepper and Mary/Marshall. I want to see the sparks and then have Marshall and Tony geek out and build something out of the silverware. (Funnily enough, I'm actually writing something in which Mary, Marshall, Christine and Bones are all at a function together. Drinks are involved so it's kind of a double date.)

Have two kissed yet?

I think they did in a deleted scene. And I haven't seen the trailer for the next film, SO DON'T TELL ME ANYTHING!

Did four have a happy ending? If the show hasn't ended yet, do you think a happy ending is likely?

Oh, god, I hope so. Please, show! DO NOT SCREW US OVER!!!!

What would make you start shipping fourteen?

I'm halfway there, I just haven't watched in awhile.

If only one could happen, which would you prefer, two or six?

Oooooh, six. If only because I think Tony will end up breaking Pepper's heart as it is and Mike would probably be pretty darn good to Connie.

You have the power to decide the fate of ten. what happens to them?

Keller comes to her senses, lets Rodney down gently and goes off to have amazing sex with Ronon.

Which do you dislike the most?

Leonard/Penny. If only because it's turned Leonard into a real jerk this season.

Which of these ships do you like the most?

I LOVE THEM ALLLL! But, McCoy/Chapel is my happy place and I've stuck with them for so long now.

You know, you make a very good argument against Harry/Ginny and I'm kinda there with you.

Also, a Tony/Pepper Mary/Marshall double date would be hilarious.

It's not like I hate the idea of Harry/Ginny, but I kind of wanted more for her and for Harry actually. I know that the 'relationships' weren't the main point of the novels, but I just thought the epilogue was just too easy. (Although, considering they killed my fave OTP: Remus/Tonks, I'm probably slightly bitter about the whole hting. :D)

And I want to see Tony and Mary snark over cocktails. Yes, please!

Agreed. The epilogue was really too 'yay, everything's fine!'. And I adore Remus/Tonks. I had the beginning of a somewhat twisted (maybe?) fic which shipped both Remus/Sirius and Remus/Tonks.

Yay cocktails!

Merfle. The very beginning is here (http://reaschild.livejournal.com/39682.html#cutid1) and I honestly don't know that I have HP well enough in my head to write the whole thing.

(if, on the other hand, you see where I was going and get bit by the bunny, you have my permission to run with it)

HEE! This WAS fun to do! If a bit challenging. And the fact that you're curious about Sheppard/Weir just makes me stupidly happy. If just because I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. And had such good fandom memories attached to them! (For real, season one involved a lot of me and other friends emailing/IM'ing each other and giggling like morons.) And Elizabeth is just. SO. AWESOME. There's a reason I can't ever really get behind SGU and it pretty much falls down to the shit way the SG production staff/writers/producers screw over the women characters on the show. I don't get preachy or tell-y about it, I just won't watch anything else they ever produce.

See, I just watched a random ep of the SGU and I like the premise. I'm not too keen on some of the characters, so I'll probably do what I normally do, which is like the stuff I like and write fic for the rest.

I think I know what you mean about the SG writers and how they are with women. They seem to be... umm... biased against them somehow? And this is coming from someone who has only seen a few eps of the various franchises. Even Sam Carter gets a little bit of a short shrift somehow.

I'm definitely looking up Elizabeth Weir.

*nod* No, I totally get that! I watched most of SG-1 and seasons 1-4.1 of SGA. The franchise wouldn't be successful at all if it didn't have the ability to draw in viewers and tell some fun stories. I just. I can't do it again.

They seem to be... umm... biased against them somehow?

Um, yeah. I won't push my issues with them on you, but it says something that Joe Flannigan (Sheppard) actively started calling them out on their behavior during the last season, to the point where they didn't include him in the 'goodbye' special. There was just some really not good or smart treatment of actresses and women behind the scenes. And we won't even go into the OH MY GOD WERE ALL OF YOU ASLEEP!? situation that cropped up in SGU that lead to the producers trying to explain stuff away when, if they have wives or daughters or women who speak to them on a civil level SOMEWHERE IN THE UNIVERSE, they should have just gone "Well, that was dumb of us, sorry!"

I'm sorry! I'll shut up!

BUT YES. Elizabeth Weir is made of fantastic win! As is Teyla Emmagan! They are both total badasses! Do yourself a favor and track down "New Order" 1 and 2, and then the SGA pilot (although season 1 of SGA is pretty fun viewing) and subject yourself to their awesome. THEY ARE SO GREAT.

Oh, what I've seen of Teyla, I love! She's fantastic and just fun to watch. I will find those eps, post haste! :D

Well, color me intrigued! Dish! Please, if you can. Is it the basic premise where supposedly all these people are stranded in the middle of space and there isn't really any viable way of communicating except by some kind of body possession thing? The thing is, I got interested through a piece of fanfic and thought, gosh I like Robert Carlyle and now he's in space? Awesome! How much of this show do I have to watch in order to write about it?

TEYLA IS MADE OF FANTASTIC WIN. Actually, her and Elizabeth and their eyerolls of "ARG, BOYS." are awesome and I wish we'd had more of them because. Dude. The eyerolls were deserved.

And, okay. So. There were posted casting sides where they were going to have this superawesome quadriplegic lady scientist take over Ming Na's body (I believe the character is canonically a lesbian) and SUDDENLY she gets to experience 'True' life! And she has sex with the lead protagonist! And gets to experience 'real' intimacy! Then someone pointed out 1. isn't it a bit jackassy to think that a disabled person needs to take over someone's body in order to experience 'real' things 2. her having sex in the other person's body is kind of RAPE if permission isn't given by the person who's body they're in and 3. Really? You want to do that just so you can get the leads to hook up even though one's canonically NOT. INTERESTED. in the other?

And when all of these concerns were brought to the producers (mind this was when the casting sides were posted, so there was more than enough time to go "Whoops! Didn't think of that! That was kind of jerky and bad of us! Thanks for pointing that out!" and toss the whole thing, Producers (Joe "Asshat" Mallozzi) went on saying basically that their ideas were edgy and intelligent and anyone who disagreed just sucked and their opinions didn't count.

I honestly don't know if they continued with production of that episode, but I pretty much folded my hands on the whole production team because of how they reacted to some fairly intelligent, reasonable concerns. Mind you, these are also the same people who produced this (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0786246/) piece of jackassery and were confused when people went "...so, rape? Lots and lots of mental rape? That you played as funny? NO THANK YOU."

And honestly, if the show weren't being written and produced by who it's being written and produced by, I'd probably give it a chance. PLUS, this is kind of a 'do over' of SGA as for the first season THEY were stranded and alone and trying to survive. I guess they just wanted to do something edgier and darker, which, hey, good for them. But. Yeah, my issues, let me show them to you. :\

From: [identity profile] seren-ccd.livejournal.com
Oh. Well. That's just wrong on so many levels. Why don't people listen? Or, I don't know, think every now and then? 'Edgy' does not equal ass-backwards wrong and shoddy plot development.

I think I'll stick to the canon I create in my head. :P I hardly watch any tv these days. I can find fic that's so much better written and 'original', I really don't bother anymore.
