Day 04 → Your favourite book

I'm going to go with a book that I loved when I was a teenager and still love to this day.

Over the Moon by Elissa Haden Guest. It's sadly out of print and I doubt many people have read it. But it instilled in me a love for New England, rocky beaches, ferry trips, road trips, silver earrings, acoustic guitars, jazz and Simon and Garfunkel.

It's about a 16-year-old girl who goes looking for the sister that left them years before. The narrator is kind, young, a little naive, but lovely. The style of writing is just easy. You just sink into this book and want to go on a road trip. It draws your attention to little things, like what type of soap someone has in their bathroom, to what finger they were their rings on, and what music is playing in the background.

It also has probably the best first kiss I've ever read.

It's a lovely, lovely book. It's actually a young adult book, but I think it holds up remarkably well.

3. Because you KNOW the sex would be AMAZING.

3. Because when they're close to retirement, he's going to lean over and kiss her cheek and tell her that he couldn't have asked for a better partner. She's going to roll her eyes and jump him later in the supply closet.
