The BBC allegedly believes most people will have only read 6 of the 100 books here:
How do your reading habits stack up? [bold those books you've read in their entirety, italicize the ones you started but didn't finish]
Well, I've read 42. This is probably thanks to my mom who left me stack of books to read during my summer vacation.
I know this is a BBC list, and I'm not actually all that fond of him, but where's Hemingway? Or Faulkner? Or even Stephen King? Hmmm...
