Write Like the Wind Wrap Up!
Jan. 27th, 2013 08:19 pmHullo! How did everyone do? I actually did quite a bit of writing by hand. It helps me to slow my thoughts down and work out the blocking of characters. So I have a proper, honest-to-goodness beginning that I don't hate. Le snippet avec collage is beneath le cut.

I'm also getting into the whole collage thing. Jennifer Crusie strikes again! She does hers with actual glue and scissors, but I've found that www.picmonkey.com does a nice virtual job and it's FREE! Woo!
I hope everyone's having a good Sunday. I've got lentil, tomato and kale soup on the hob with parmesan waiting to be put on top. I watched The Witches of Eastwick yesterday and remembered how much fun it is. The film, not the tv show. Although I never watched the tv show. Should I? Was it any good?
Have a lovely Sunday! ♥

"Mum, I'm going to stay," Nora said walking into the master bedroom.
Silence on the other end of the line was all that Nora heard.
"Mum?"
"You're going to stay? In Wales?" Oliva sounded horrified and Nora rolled her eyes.
"Yes, mum, in Wales."
"What about Bryan?"
"What Bryan? You mean Bryan that threw me over for another woman?" Nora asked her fingers tightening on the phone. "That Bryan? What about that Bryan?"
"Now, darling, I'm sure he regrets everything. He'll come back. A man like him needs someone stable and dependable more than good sex."
"Wow," Nora said her eyes widening. "That's, wow. I'm putting that on my gravestone. 'Here lies Nora. She was stable and dependable, but a bit rubbish at the sex. Thanks, mum."

Date: 2013-01-27 10:59 pm (UTC)It's a little confusing right now though - I don't really know if there's going to be a relationship at all in this yet.. so could be exciting to see how friendships/family ties develop. Or if a cuddlefest develops without me realizing it lol.

Date: 2013-01-29 02:33 am (UTC)And this will be a crazy one as for the first time, I'm pretty sure I need to have a map. I've already just in the first 6k realized I'm running myself in circles as far as where the exhibits/homes and staff-type buildings are.. I'm probably going to pull up existing zoo maps and see if I can edit with photoshop or something. Should be interesting!
...I'm also kinda amused that we're going to end up with a slightly similar tone as far as "other" being more mundane than otherwise lol.
And I just realized I don't have ANY icons that relate to the current characters. Not even one of Emily from Primeval who's playing my lead Bess... I'll need to rectify that me thinks!

Date: 2013-01-27 11:43 pm (UTC)Now to write the final scene, fill in gaps, improve the foreshadowing...blech!! I love it, and I hate it - but it does "star" Morgan Freeman, and he pretty much makes everything better. :D
(And I love writing by hand; I find it very difficult to create on a computer, so writing by hand (with a sweet moving pen) really helps get the juices flowing...)
\pen fetish/
Love the collage - and thank you for picmonkey!!! I will need to use that site... :)
ETA: the snippet? Priceless!!!

Date: 2013-01-28 06:27 pm (UTC)Writing by hand can really help. I find I can get into a rhythm on the computer but only when I KNOW what I'm writing. If I'm not sure what's happening, writing by hand works better for me.
Picmonkey is pretty cool. Very easy to use and it's FREE!
