Oh, wow - this has been...a month. Let's just leave it at that! Anyhoo! If you have a snippet you'd like to share - go for it!

A nice trip to the library )

Hi everyone! How is November treating you so far? I'm NOT enjoying the time change. It's now dark when I leave the office at 4.50pm. Not. Cool.

How is the writing going? I've done fairly well this week until today. I think I'm just tired, but I'm going to try to get something written. In any case, here's a little snippet that I've been trying to work on.

Cwm Alaw is a lot like Stars Hollow from the Gilmore Girls but with more weird stuff. )

What have you all been up to? Feel free to share or ask a question or anything! Happy Sunday! ♥

Hullo!

Well, it looks like people might be up for a Sharing Sunday of some sort. (alliteration unintended!) But I thought I might kick this Sunday off with more of a time to list the challenges you're looking forward to, or dreading, this month.

Mine is pretty simple:

I'm terrified that I'm not going to finish the darn thing. Not the word count part! The words I can do. It's the getting a beginning, a middle, and an end down on paper. The thing is, I know what they are. I know how it starts and I know how it ends. It's the getting there that I have trouble with. I kept finding myself getting bogged down in the details. Which is why I'm doing the whole 'just write and edit later' thing in the first place.

Still, I'm very worried that I won't finish. Well, *fingers crossed*.

How about you? What are you looking forward to this month writing-wise? Happy Sunday! ♥

Ugh. Sunday night. Always the worst. I think it's a holdover from being a kid and worrying about going to school on Monday. Bleh.

Anyway, this is actually a GIP (gratuitous icon post) because I love my new icon of Tulip O'Hare. This was hands down the best scene in the whole series.

In other news, I'm doing NaNo, as I may have mentioned, but if anyone else on my friendslist is doing it, do y'all want to turn Sunday into a Sharing Sunday kind of thing? I'm happy to post something and you can share a snippet or a question or simply wail into the void about your characters or writing or anything in general.

Anyone interested? [Poll #2056167]

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! Happy Sunday? ♥
seren_ccd: (Yuletide!)
Hullo! I have things! Finally!

1. Yuletide story is almost done. I need to write another couple of paragraphs and then that's it. I think. Drumming up the motivation to write said paragraphs is another thing altogether.

2. I've actually finished all my Christmas shopping! All the boxes to family members in the States have been sent and I just need one more thing for family over here. Look what I bought my husband! Ghostbusters Legos! Not gonna lie - I kinda got this for me, too.

3. I took a cake decorating class yesterday and my cake looks pretty good for a beginner. I mean, the piping is shaky and I ran out of room to write Merry Christmas and went with Merry Happy, but it was fun? The start of the class was really rushed as there were people who had clearly used marzipan and rolled out icing before, which I haven't done. So that was a bit overwhelming. But the pace eased up and I think I might go back. Also - there is now Christmas Cake in the house! Woo!

4. It hasn't really stopped raining since the beginning of November and I think I might be catching a cold. My throat's all funky. This isn't a terrible thing though, it might get me out of going to my office's Christmas dinner tomorrow. Ugh, such a terrible thing to say, but I'm just not really in the mood for it? I don't really know everyone and there's always a lot of talk about sheep. Oh, I might need to clarify this. Actually, have I told you all about my new job? It's...interesting )

5. I just had a lovely mince pie and now I want lunch, hopefully there is soup somewhere in the house.

Happy Sunday! ♥

Sunday!

Things on a Sunday! (and making sure this cross-posting thing works)

1. Being an auntie is the BEST. I love it! The little guy is such a cutie and we have early morning Auntie Seren time while mum and dad get some sleep. Le husband is a natural, as well. They sit together for hours!

2. Job interview tomorrow! I think I want it too much. I'm afraid I've jinxed it already. *whimpers*

3. Writing is actually going really well! I basically started over with what I had and I've re-jigged the first four chapters and figured out A LOT of stuff. I've been doing research and I've spent at least two hours ever other day at the library. It's brilliant! I hope to go back tomorrow after my interview.

4. Hmmm, not sure I've got a 4. I hope to see The Man from UNCLE this week, tho!

5. Nope! No 5! Have a lovely Sunday, everyone!

No, I don't know why that song is stuck in my head.

So! I was going to post once a week, wasn't I? Ahahahhhahahaha, um. Sorry. Life has been...extremely life-like.

Work! Work has been very busy, but I'm still really enjoying my new position. It's supposed to end in December, but I was told on Friday that they'll actually want me for at least another year. Woo!

Writing! Writing is...sort of happening? I'm doing a lot of writing by hand and am hoping to take advantage of a trip to Wales to closet myself at the National Library and type it all up.

Reading! I've been reading a lot of Molly/Sherlock fics these last two weeks and I. Don't. Know. Why. But. I am. Some of them are quite good. Some are not. Please don't judge me. I've also been reading a steampunk(ish) series by Kristen Callihan and it's quite good. All the supernatural elements that you imagine, plus some cool gadgets and it's very racy.

Eyes! I'm getting new frames for my glasses this week. Yay!

Foods! I'm making Kitchen-sink Curry tonight! This consists of throwing everything a part from the kitchen sink into a pot and letting it simmer. I'm getting rid of the kale that's about to go off, carrots, onions, garlic, ginger, mushrooms, peppers, coconut milk and some tomatoes. I think I've got a lime for garnish, which should be nice.

I hope everyone is doing all right and have a happy Sunday! ♥

Hullo!

How is everyone this weekend?

Not a whole lot to report. The new job is pretty cool. It's feels like a good fit for me and I'm just settling in and going for it.

I'm attempting to write a little every day and that feels quite good. I'm in the midst of another Musketeers fic with Constance and Athos set far in the future. Their voices are just really fun to write. I'm also writing the ending of one of my original fics to just get it out there. I'll need to fill in the middle, but I'm taking some writing advice to write the ending and then write to that. We'll see! :D

I just read ALL of Simone St James' novels and they were fantastic. Spooky and made me ready for autumn. I'm so ready for cooler weather. This summer stuff is not fun. Especially without air conditioner. Bleh.

I hope all is good with all of y'all! Happy Sunday! ♥

Hullo! How did everyone do? I actually did quite a bit of writing by hand. It helps me to slow my thoughts down and work out the blocking of characters. So I have a proper, honest-to-goodness beginning that I don't hate. Le snippet avec collage is beneath le cut. people, places and a cat )

I'm also getting into the whole collage thing. Jennifer Crusie strikes again! She does hers with actual glue and scissors, but I've found that www.picmonkey.com does a nice virtual job and it's FREE! Woo!

I hope everyone's having a good Sunday. I've got lentil, tomato and kale soup on the hob with parmesan waiting to be put on top. I watched The Witches of Eastwick yesterday and remembered how much fun it is. The film, not the tv show. Although I never watched the tv show. Should I? Was it any good?

Have a lovely Sunday! ♥

'Cause it's Sunday.

List all of the television shows you have on DVD, no matter how obscure or embarrassing. Even if you only own one season, list it. Let's see who has what!

I'm including mini-series in this.

Veronica Mars (s1)
M*A*S*H (s6)
Star Trek Original Series (all of it!)
Twin Peaks (s1, s2)
North and South (UK) (Oh, Mr Thornton)
Pride and Prejudice
Wives and Daughters
Heat of the Sun (UK) (It's got Trevor Eve and Julian Rhind-Tut)
Keen Eddie
Wings (s1)
Route 66 (it's my mom's but it's pretty awesome)
I used to have the entire first season of the X-Files that I personally taped off of tv. However, someone (MOM!) taped over them.

That's all I can think of. And of course, the sad thing is that these are scattered over at least three houses and two continents.

Now, back to two stories that are kicking my arse. I will finish one of them! I'm just not sure which one.

*facepalm*
