Tremendulent!

Well, it started raining last night at around midnight (just after I finished watching The Hunt for Red October, such a good film) and it hasn't stopped since. I went out briefly to go to the public library and it's the kind of rain that you don't bother with an umbrella for, it'll just get turned inside out. I swear, the rain in Wales defies all manner of gravitational properties, it can maneuver its way inside your jacket.

BUT! I was successful at the library and have beside me a cup of tea, Agatha Christie's The Secret of Chimneys (thanks for the rec, silveronthetree!), a book of short stories by Charles deLint (which I think I'm saving for the train this week) and Stephanie Laurens' The Untamed Bride 'cause I'm always up for a little Regency romance. I haven't tried her yet, so we'll see.

I'm also wearing, get ready for it--jeggings. Seriously. I bought a pair to see what all the fuss was about and do you know they're rather comfy? I'm not thin by any stretch of the imagination, but they do rather nice shaping-things to my butt. Who knew? My only quibble is the fact that I couldn't find them in petites so they go halfway down my foot. Oh, well, keeps them warm!

So, who had to go to the Royal Welsh Show yesterday, stand in a marquee for eight hours straight, in the pouring rain and mud?

Yeah. Miserable day.

The shining point was when I finally got to go get lunch (at 3 pm!) I wandered past one of the show arenas where, I kid you not, the Dancing JCB's were, well dancing, to the theme from The Terminator. For a finale, they raised their shovels and sparks flew out. It was pretty fantastic.

However, my feet still feel wet.

So, Oxoniensis' Porn Battle is underway. Is it totally missing the point if I want to write my own prompt?

And since it's Wednesday and the rain hasn't stopped and I'm so making a huge pot of garlic chicken soup when I get home, have some pretty pictures.

Happy Wednesday!

Well, sort of. You know, I was told when I moved here that it only rains once in Wales, because once it starts, it doesn't stop.

They weren't wrong.

It has basically flooded all over and so I got to go home early because there is no way any of the buses or trains will be running in the near future. And I have permission if it's still flooded and awful tomorrow to work from home.

This totally makes up for yesterday's suckitude. (Know what else helped yesterday? Check out the cool McCoy/Chapel fic by velvetmouse!)

My current dilemma: take a nap (which I really want) or write (which I must). Hmmmm.
