Seriously, I'm not sure what's up with me lately, but when I set out to do a thing - I end up REALLY DOING A THING.

Examples:

1. We went to look at a flat on a Friday. We signed the lease on Monday and moved in the following Saturday aka four days ago. So...I'm in a new flat? Yay?

No, it's good. It's a huge flat. Two bedrooms and in a very bizarre layout and well within our price range. It, unfortunately, as we've since discovered, has one of those metal plates above what I presume was the old-fashioned way of getting into the cellar and this plate is located on the pavement JUST beneath the window for the front room. So cue a big CLANK every time someone walks on it. Which is a lot. However, you can't hear it in the bedroom, so that's nice.

2. I'm still working on my two original novels and making progress. But, I'm also writing three fics. *facepalm* I think I'm just throwing stuff out there and seeing what happens. I'll finish them! I will. I just, ugh, so many projects.

3. My job! Holy crap. I was asked a few months back if I minded doing stuff in the lab, to which I replied, 'No, of course not! It's fun!' Cue the last three weeks of me being in the lab doing experiment after experiment, writing down the data, interpreting the data, and setting up new experiments. WHAT?! How did this even happen? I'm even showing the new PhD student how to do all this. I'm a lab manager! ME! WHAT?!

4. And finally - I'm baking this cake this weekend because if you're going to bake a cake, why not bake a three-layer chocolate marzipan cake with pistachios: Pistachio Petit Four Cake .

Possibly as result of all the above, my period came very early and I took today off because of my abdomen yelling at me rather loudly. Imma go make some tea.

Happy Wednesday? ♥

Fings! Look, it was actually one of those weeks where I really struggled to find the good stuff. It was one of those weeks filled with a lot of bad stuff around the world and in our family and just plain hard.

So!

I'm making a point of listing some of the cool things that DID happen that ARE awesome and good.

1. I have been a cooking fiend! For my lunch I made a avocado, cucumber, lime juice, mayo and Sriracha salad that I throw on top of some salad greens. It's (almost!) healthy and cheap! I made chocolate chip cookies and this is the BEST recipe. Seriously. I also made some very tasty black beans, chicken and rice.

Le husband made French toast. Not just any French toast. LAYERED French toast. Two thick slices of bread with a thin layer of fresh strawberry slices and whipped cream with powdered sugar on top. Oh. My. Sweet. Lord. And the strawberries are the first of the season, so they're fresh, but not too sweet. Huh-mazing.

2. I finished my Hobbit fic! I...don't know where this story came from, but it was a blast to write and I got some very lovely comments and it was just plain fun.

3. I started my Het Big Bang! I've got a complete outline and plot and I've got about 6,000 words written. I don't even know, y'all. But the words are actually coming and I'm not about to stop them.

4. In terms of my original novel thing, I pretty much decided to start over. It wasn't going the way I wanted it to and I thought, 'Hey, this is my story, I can start over if I want to.' So, I've taken some stuff out and re-jigged quite a bit of it and since the beginning of the year, I have about 26,000 words of a story that I'm really happy about.

5. I HAVE DONE ALL THE LAUNDRY. ALL OF IT. IT IS GLORIOUS AND MY CLOTHES SMELL AWESOME BECAUSE THE WEATHER HAS BEEN ON MY SIDE AND I'VE BEEN ABLE TO LINE-DRY. SCORE!

How are you?! Tell me awesome things or even mildly okay things that happened this week, because life can't just be about the bad stuff. It really can't.

Happy Sunday! ♥
