Things on a Tuesday!

1. First off, does anyone have any good recommendations for a good facial cleanser? Summer is sort of here and I really need something that attacks oily skin. Ugh. The biggest lie I was ever told was 'oh, your acne will TOTALLY clear up when you're older!' I'm 37 years old. It hasn't cleared up.

2. I got to PLAY WITH A PUPPY YESTERDAY! She's adorable. She's a little Jack Russell/Patterdale Terrior mix named Jwdi (Welsh for Judy). Oh, the puppy breath was lovely and rejuvenating and she's such a cutie-pie.

3. Um, I can probably only say this to y'all but...I have no desire whatsoever to see the new Captain America movie. *ducks* I'm so tired of this franchise, I can't even explain it. And I wish I wasn't! It's an actual active fandom and I'd love to participate but I just don't care? *sighs*

4. The Great Re-Jigging continues apace. It's proven to be a bit harder than I thought it would be as I'm changing quite a few things as well as trying to tie it into another story I'm writing in an attempt to go for the series route. So I'm having to say good-bye to characters and it's SO HARD. *sniffles* But, I have a good grasp on where I'm going so once I'm past the nit-picky things, I think I'll hit my stride somewhat. It's been fun getting back into some of these characters' heads. I love McCoy and Chapel in all their reincarnations. ( have a pic of their faces because i'm terribly predictable like that )

5. I've been using my Crock=Pot lately and oh mama, I love my Crock-Pot. I made THE best chicken ropa vieja on Sunday. It just fell apart and was juicy and spicy and So. Good.

Actually, I don't have very many things today. I'm exhausted. This lab work stuff is hard. I was on my feet all day and spent most of it glaring at technology.

So, remember how I used to post pictures of my writing projects? Well, I taking a crack at re-jigging an old story. I'm going to turn it into a romantic suspense story. I already had the romance, I just needed the suspense - and I figured that out yesterday! So, now I just need to figure out how to proceed. In the meantime, remember these two morons?

Do something awesome with that - not necessarily exactly the same (the timeline is a bit awkward), but I'd love to see a fic where Chapel & McCoy come together where Christine ISN'T on the Enterprise (initially, at least), but is instead being BAMFy In Starfleet on Earth while McCoy is off reluctantly going boldly... but somehow they get together anyway.

Summary: They really needed to stop meeting like this. A McCoy/Chapel romance four years in the making.

Happy Boxing Day, everyone!

I come bearing fic recs! These two stories were written all for me and I'm thrilled beyond measure.

My Yuletide Santa wrote me Winslow Boy fic. It has Catherine and Robert being subtle and then not so subtle and there is a discussion of hats and it's just charming.

Hearts at Peace. It's so lovely.

Annnd my bestest friend ever, fringedweller wrote me a fic for the mccoy_chapel Fic Exchange.

It's awesome! There's dancing and Jim does the Hustle. *flails* It's everything I love about McCoy and Chapel. Go. Read. Now!

It Takes Two.

I hope everyone is having a good holiday. I've eaten way too much and people really need to stop making cookies. :D

I've always wanted to say that. ;D

I will be writing Christine Chapel and Leonard McCoy along with the rest of the Enterprise crew in various permutations (I think I may have inadvertently snuck in a threesome, hee!) in a modern-day small town in southern California. (California people, I may be spamming you with random stupid questions about life there. :D)

In other words, this looks like a very, very well-run challenge with some great folks mod-ing it. So, head on over to check it out!

I also want to say that I am going to be doing this one instead of Star Trek Big Bang. I loved doing Star Trek Big Bang last year and they've got an AMAZING set-up going on. But, I like the idea of a het-focused challenge and wanted to give this one a go, so that's why I'm doing this one instead of the other.

Anyway! I'll probably set up some kind of Big Bang friends filter, so if you'd like to be in on the madness, comment and let me know.

ETA: I've just seen some of the other possible projects and wow. This is going to be epic and wonderfully diverse fandom-wise. Plan on reading nothing other than these fics come October.

Well, it's snowing. And the birds are consistently running into the window in search of more birdseed. Which was given to them. Twice. There's a particularly chubby little blackbird that's hunkered down on a branch outside my window. He's kind of cute.

My McCoy/Chapel is beginning to lean towards angsty. I...truly did not see that coming. Hmmm.

And I've got a burning desire to fill a Sherlock (BBC) prompt which asks for teen!Mycroft and teen!Lestrade. I kind of want to go fem!Mycroft again where she's been forced by Mummy to attend an all-boys school in order to learn how to function in a man's world. Enter Lestrade. Angsty shenanigans ensue.

Speaking of bookshelves, the plan for Saturday is to go to the National Library of Wales, find myself an empty table, and WRITE. I'm only 3700 words into my Big Bang and that needs to change. I know what I'm doing though! I've got an outline and everything.

However, in good news: IT'S FRIDAY!

So, I think I've managed to get the whole A-Team in Spaace under control. I will henceforth be working on my Star Trek Big Bang. (Yay McCoy/Chapel! I love these crazy kids!)

I'm cheating and just marking the ones I saw and liked. At the time. I might have a different opinion these days.

So, I saw someone asking on their journal who is the best fandom people have ever been involved in. I'll be honest, I've only this past year really gotten involved in fandom and visited multiple comms and read the meta and so on.

But, I have to say, hands down, THE best fandom I've come into contact with is the McCoy/Chapel folks over at mccoy_chapel and on my flist. They are kind, they are supportive, they kill me dead with their creativity and writing/artistic skills and are just plain lovely.

What are some other ones that you've enjoyed?

Other things making me happy include:

1. My new layout! I've never used an originally customized one before and I love it.

2. The earrings I'm currently wearing. I went digging in my jewelry box this morning and found my silver manatee earrings I bought eons ago in Florida.

3. It's raining and while I'm not keen on walking into town in it, it smells gorgeous and we do actually need it.
